WOLF HEMMEN
Born 1998, in the city of Groningen, the Netherlands.
My childhood was mostly spent growing up in the working-class neighborhood of ‘de Oosterpark’, where i was often found bent over a piece of paper with a pen in hand drawing. Through my parents and the parents of middle-school friends’ I was surrounded by creatives of all disciplines, or playing in the background during openings at local Groningen galleries. Influenced by the professions of my parents friends I went on to study multi-media Design at Noorderpoort College. Here i had a focus on scenography and photography, and interned at Rutger Prins his studio REGIME where I worked on promotional material and album covers for musicians.
In 2021 i completed a bachelor in Fine arts at Academie Minerva during which my choice of medium lay in installation, multi-media and video. Here a strong focus on the relation between space, object and person started to take shape. This focus I still carry with me to this day.
Following my time at Academie Minerva I sought familiarity in the hospitality industry, in which my parents were both active during my younger years. Quickly i moved from Groningen to Berlin, Germany where i cut my teeth at several high-end restaurants. During my time in Berlin in became acquainted with a wide range of contemporary design and became fascinated with how specifically interior design shaped experiences within the context of restaurants which lead me to leave my career as a chef and continue studying at LUCA School of Arts in Ghent, Belgium.
